Statutory Paternity Pay - SPP

As an employee of Nasa Umbrella you are by law entitled to certain statutory benefits like Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP).

Paternity Leave is either 1 or 2 weeks following the childbirth. For babies expected after the 6th April 2024, this can be split into 2 separate weeks of leave during the first year of birth. You must provide 4 weeks notice to Nasa Umbrella before each week of leave is taken.

The weekly rate of Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) is paid at £184.03 per week, or 90% of your average weekly taxable earnings (whichever is lower).

In order for you to qualify to receive SPP you must meet the following criteria:

  • You are classed as an employee
  • You have given your employer (Nasa Umbrella) the correct notice (at least 28 days before the due date)
  • You have given your employer (Nasa Umbrella) proof of your partners pregnancy (MATB1 form)
  • You earn on average at least £123 a week
  • You have provided the correct notice to your employer (Nasa Umbrella), this will be 15 weeks prior to the expected date of birth
  • You have worked for and been paid by Nasa Umbrella continuously for at least 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth (known as ‘qualifying week’)

In order for us to assess your eligibility and process SPP, we require a completed Ordinary Statutory Paternity Pay and Leave form (SC3) which can be found on the HMRC website www.gov.uk/government/publications/ordinary-statutory-paternity-pay-and-leave-becoming-a-birth-parent-sc3

Once completed please save as .pdf and email it to payroll@nasaumbrella.com.

If you qualify to receive SPP through Nasa Umbrella, we will provide you with a payment schedule.

If we cannot pay SPP to you we will provide a completed SPP1 form explaining why. This form will also allow you to make a claim for income support directly from your local Jobcentre Plus.
