Statutory Paternity Pay - SPP

As an employee of Nasa Umbrella you are by law entitled to certain statutory benefits like Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP).

Paternity Leave is either 1 or 2 weeks following the childbirth. You can take your Paternity leave in one go or as two separate one-week blocks. This can be any time in the 52 weeks after the childbirth.

The weekly rate of Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) is £187.18, or 90% of your average weekly taxable earnings, whichever is lower.

You will be paid based on your usual payment dates in line with your agency’s payment terms.

In order for you to qualify to receive SPP you must meet the following criteria:

  • You are classed as an employee.
  • You have given your employer (Nasa Umbrella) the correct notice (at least 15 weeks before the due date).
  • You have given your employer (Nasa Umbrella) proof of your partner's pregnancy (MATB1 form).
  • You earn on average at least £125 a week (before tax).
  • You have worked for and been paid by Nasa Umbrella continuously for at least 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth (known as ‘qualifying week’).

For us to assess your eligibility and process SPP, we require a completed Ordinary Statutory Paternity Pay and Leave form (previously called SC3) which can be found on the HMRC website here.

Once completed please save as .pdf and email it to payroll@nasagroup.co.uk.

If you qualify to receive SPP through Nasa Umbrella, we will provide you with a payment schedule. However, we must be informed of any changes to your leave date within 28 days of your first SPP payment.

Please note you cannot be paid SPP if you work during your 2 weeks leave. For any other reasons we may not be able to pay you SPP, you can find this detailed on the SPP1 form here.

If we cannot pay SPP to you, we will provide a completed SPP1 form explaining why.

Further information on Paternity Leave and SPP can be found on the HMRC website here.
