As an employee of Nasa Umbrella, you are by law entitled to certain statutory benefits like Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
You are entitled to claim SSP should you be off work for 4 or more consecutive days. SSP is payable at the rates shown here, for up to 28 weeks if the following criteria are met:
- You are classed as an employee and have received at least one payment through Nasa Umbrella
- You have worked consecutively for at least 8 weeks
- You have been ill for at least 4 days in a row (the first 3 days do not qualify)
- You have informed Nasa Umbrella of your sickness within 7 days of your first day of sickness
- Your average earnings (taxable income) are at least £123 per week
If you were not well enough to visit your GP you can ‘self-certify’ for up to 7 days. If this is the case please complete Employee’s Statement of Sickness form on HMRC website www.gov.uk/government/publications/statutory-sick-pay-employees-statement-of-sickness-sc2. Once completed please save as .pdf and email it to payroll@nasaumbrella.com.
Alongside the self-certification form, we kindly ask that you provide us with an email from your agency/line manager which confirms the days that you were due work but had to take off due to this sickness.
If your sickness period lasts more than 7 days, we require a copy of the Fit Note supplied by your GP to process further payments.
If you qualify to receive SSP through Nasa Umbrella, we will pay it to you on your usual payment day.
If we cannot pay SSP to you we will provide a competed SSP1 form which will allow you to make a claim for income support directly from your local Jobcentre Plus.
Further information on SSP can be found on the HMRC website www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/overview.
