What does it mean for Nasa to be my employer?

Over-arching contracts of employment, and what this means for you.

When you register with us, you become an employee of Nasa Umbrella. This means you are able work on multiple assignments via us, without the need for us to send new employment contracts for each assignment. Your employment with Nasa will continue after your assignment ends, allowing you source new assignments if you wish. It also means that all your tax affairs stay in one place, which keeps things simple from an HMRC reporting perspective. We'll report all your deductions to HMRC via RTI (Real Time Information) once we have run payroll. You won't need to report your own deductions for your earnings via Nasa*.

As an employee of Nasa, you are entitled to statutory employment benefits such as holiday pay, statutory sick pay, and maternity pay. As your employer we are happy to complete confirmation of employment references and provide assistance to you with any proof of employment, proof of earnings etc. We cannot provide specific references about how you carried out your role, as we are not present with you at the client site.

I thought I would be employed by the agency or end client?
Nasa is your employer, and as outlined above we are happy to assist with anything relating to your employment; however whilst on assignment you will need to report to your line manager, and liaise with them regarding days off, time sheets etc. Although we become your employer, we don't have any visibility of your work at the end client, so we can't advise on questions about your end client's processes etc. You'll need to query these things with either your end client or recruitment agency. You are not an employee of the agency or client whilst on assignment with Nasa Umbrella.
