Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA), Companies House must verify the identity of anyone submitting information to the public register, including those acting on behalf of a company.
The enhanced powers granted to Companies House are intended to improve the accuracy and transparency of the information it holds.
There will be a transition period once the identity verification becomes mandatory, which means that existing Directors and PSCs will be required to verify their identities as part of their normal annual confirmation statement filing.
In the meantime, we recommend that our clients complete the identity verification process before it becomes mandatory by following the steps on this link: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/verifying-your-identity-for-companies-house
As an ACSP (‘Authorised Corporate Service Provider’) Nasa will be able to complete this on your behalf if you wish. We are now offering a Companies House verification service for £50+VAT which will include the newer Trust ID checks. Should you want NASA to verify your identity with Companies House on your behalf, please contact your client manager.
Once the identity check has been submitted to Companies House, a personal code will be sent to your email address. We will require this code to be able to file future documents to Companies House on behalf of your Ltd company. Once you have received your personal code, please share it with your client manager as soon as possible.
For anyone who hasn’t completed the verification process by the time it becomes mandatory in Autumn 2025, we will notify you with a prompt as part of our normal Confirmation Statement process to verify your identity either yourself or through NASA if you would prefer.
If you have any questions, please contact your client manager. Further information can be seen via Companies House here.
